Oral Trauma - Dental injury is a very common occurrence. Bumps or falls can often cause injuries to the face, jaw, and teeth and teeth can be chipped, loosened, or even be dislodged completely out of the mouth. Did you know that a tooth that is knocked out of the mouth can be replaced?  Timing is important. Replacing the tooth within the first 20 minutes gives the best chance for healthy re-implantation. After 1 hour, the chances of successfully replacing a tooth is much lower. If you or someone you know has a traumatic injury to their mouth, contact a dentist immediately and either place the tooth back in the tooth socket, or in cold milk (the salinity of milk most closely matches that of the tooth to avoid damaging the fragile outer lining).
